Having dual-camera modules seems to be the thing to have with manufacturers today. The Honor 6 Plus, HTC One M8 and the current crop of Huawei P9 and LG G5 are some of the smartphones that are now sporting dual-camera sensors. We will definitely see more in the near future, as Samsung is listed as one of the major suppliers of dual-camera modules to Chinese OEMs.

Samsung is already supplying single camera modules to Xiaomi for its existing devices through their subsidiary, Samsung Electro-Mechanics. The same report also says that Xiaomi may be utilizing these Samsung-made dual cameras in the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5S, which is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2016. We may also see other Chinese player such as OPPO and LeEco to use Samsung camera modules in the near future.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics’s biggest client right now is Samsung, and the company is trying to reduce their reliance on their parent company. Will we see more companies sporting Samsung camera modules in their smartphones? We shall see soon.
