Rumours: The Snapdragon 830 may have eight custom Kyro CPU cores

The upcoming flagship CPU from Qualcomm seems to be heading to the monster category of classifications. An industry analyst predicts that the Snapdragon 830 will have eight custom Kyro CPU cores, a 100% increase over its predecessor the Snapdragon 820.

As a recap, the Kyro CPU core is the processing core for Qualcomm’s latest mobile premium chip, with each core capable to process 64bit instructions. By having an octa-core arrangement, the upcoming processor will undoubtedly be a beast in mobile computing on the go. The new chip is also reportedly be produced using the 10nm process as well as integrating a CAT 16 modem.

In the interim, before the 830’s expected shipping date, the current Snapdragon 820 will be used in over 115 different devices, spanning from smartphones, tablets, robots and even vehicle installations.
