Could China based phone manufacturer Vivo have found the solution to the smartphone fingerprint scanner position? The answer could be closer than you think!

A leaked video in Weibo has shown a jet-black Vivo smartphone with a typical clock and a fingerprint icon embedded in the screen. The unnamed, prototype smartphone itself is nothing we haven’t seen before, a bezel-less design with a full-metal back design.

But here is what’s interesting, the video also shows that the phone was unlocked by touching the screen instead of a specialized fingerprint scanner module. If this video is anywhere legitimate, we could be seeing the world’s first embedded, screen-integrated fingerprint scanner. If Apple doesn’t beat them to it with the iPhone 8 that is.

With rumours of Vivo’s new “Black Technology” flying around the Internet, we may actually be looking at it with this new fingerprint scanner feature. The “Black Technology” feature is expected to be revealed during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai later this month at 28 June 2017.

However as all rumours, do remember to take it with a pinch of salt, the reveal is only a few weeks away. Make sure to stay tuned to TechNave.com for your latest scoops.
