After in-line formatting in chat, rumours are abound on the internet that the second biggest social chat app will soon get more features. They can expect Whatsapp to support both voice mail and zip file transfers in the next big update, which will give more value to the users to stay with Whatsapp.

Right now, users can transfer basic document files (PDFs, DOCs, DOCXs), photos and contacts (VCFs) to their chat partner or chat group. The ability to transfer ZIP files is not in the list - until the next big update that is. The report did not say what is the file limit for the zip file to be transfered, but this will give users an easier way to transfer fimes between them without the need to use file transfer apps or even cloud storage apps.

Plus, the voice functions of Whatsapp is set to receive a boost as well, with the possible introduction of Voice Mail. Along with in-chat voice recording, users may be able to leave voice messages on their Whatsapp, just like a normal telco service.
With these two new features, it seems that Whatsapp wants all communication to happen on their platform, be it voice, text and data.
