A new report that surfaced online has suggested that the Yi brand under Xiaomi is set to come out with a new action camera – this time it is set to have interchangeable lenses, using the Micro Fourthirds mount.
Their last action camera, the Xiaomi Yi Action Camera 2, features a standard design that can record action video up to 4K. This new report however suggests that Yi is readying a new camera that is not only action-based, but can have interchangeable lenses, thanks to the Micro Fourthirds mount – the same mount used on Olympus, Panasonic, and DJI cameras among others.

They will be working with former Fujitsu experts to create the camera. This new product may either be an action camera, or it could be the company’s first foray into the imaging world. The blurry product photo hints on the latter, but it may just be a camera with no screen.

In any case, we are looking to see this camera as it is launches on the 19 of September – so stay tuned to Technave as we will bring updates on the new Yi camera.
