The original Yi Action Camera from Xiaomi was the company’s attempt to enter the action camera market – and it was a resounding success for them. Hence, Xiaomi is readying their second take of the action camera, to be named Yi 4K Action Camera 2, and they will be putting in 4K recording in it.
According to a leaked set of pictures online, the new action cam will come with the 12.35MP Sony IMX377 camera sensor, which is smaller than the last generation’s sensor but it comes with 4K recording capability, as well as a lower battery consumption rate.

It will also come with a 2.19-inch display with Gorilla Glass protection, a 160-degree viewing angle and 640 x 360 pixel resolution with 330-ppi pixel density. The battery is now a 1400mAh unit, which translates to a longer recording time (up to 8 hours for HD video, 110 minutes for continuous 4K recording. The camera should feature WiFi, Bluetooth and microUSB/microHDMI ports.
The Yi Sports Action Camera is being sold for about RM 300 online right now, so we can expect a similar or slightly higher price for the Xi 4K Action Camera 2 when it comes out.
