Rumours claim that Samsung won't release a standard Galaxy Tab S10

For years, many brands launched smartphones or tablets in a 'series'. Typically, there would be a standard and Pro variant, sometimes even a Plus version. That's a format that Samsung has always stuck to, but that may not be true for the Galaxy S10 series.

According to Naver, Samsung plans to release only large, high-performance tablets in its Galaxy Tab S10 series. This suggests that Samsung might only launch the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S10+ tablets this year, without the basic Galaxy S10. Last year's Galaxy Tab S9 isn't exactly small with its 11-inch screen. But when compared to the 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S9+ and 14.6-inch Galaxy S9 Ultra, the size difference is apparent.

This could be a valid assumption if Samsung is competing with the latest iPad series on size. But in our opinion, it's also possible that Samsung would upgrade the screen size of the basic Galaxy S10 to 12.4-inch. This will allow Samsung to cut down on screen size SKUs to order for its new tablet from three to two, which could help reduce production costs.

Having said that, there's a rumour that Samsung could switch to using the upper mid-range Dimensity 9300 chipset for the Galaxy Tab S10+. MediaTek's chipsets are allegedly more affordable than their Qualcomm Snapdragon counterparts, so it won't be surprising if everything Samsung wants to ensure lower production costs for the upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 series.

Mind you, we're not experts in the ins and outs of manufacturing, so take the news with a grain of salt. Would you prefer Samsung to keep the basic model, or are you only planning to get a Plus or Ultra model anyway? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
