Rumours about what Apple is going to do extend even to their upcoming iOS 7 operating system, with many wondering what Apple have up their sleeves this time. With the impending Worldwide Developer Conference this 10 June 2013, we may not have to wait that long, but rumours about iOS 7, the next big version of Apple's mobile operating system are practically buzzing. While quite a few rumours indicate that iOS7 is going for a flatter look, a new bit of information is that the user interface or UI may be going for more black and white elements.
This rumour surfaced after design teams for the new iOS mentioned that they were dropping the heavy textures and skeuomorphic design philosophy used by former Senior VP of iOS Scott Forstall. Fans may miss the glossy surfaces and shadows as icons become cleaner and flatter (less 3D effects). Many mainstays of the existing iOS are expected to change as Apple are working on a cleaner Notification center with Vimeo and Flickr integration and dedicated FaceTime for iPhone users. The Weather app may have animated weather conditions while the Game Center and Newsstand will get new backgrounds and textures. The iOS 7 concept video below shows how a flatter look could be, but doesn't exactly incorporate the new black and white elements:
