After bringing Malaysia's Digital Agriculture Technology (Digital AgTech) to Kedah through the Jelajah Malaysia Digital (JMD), the Digital Ministry is now launching the initiative in Sabah. So, what should you know about it?
This initiative led by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) accelerates the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the agricultural sector, increasing the productivity and income of agribusiness entrepreneurs by up to 20%, as well as reducing operating costs by up to 30%.
In fact, Sabah is the second largest Digital AgTech beneficiary state in Malaysia after Selangor, with over 70 Digital AgTech systems powered by IoT technology implemented throughout the state of Sabah, covering all agricultural sub-sectors, including crops, livestock and aquaculture by 2024.
The Digital Ministry announced that, as of January 2025, 600 Digital AgTech systems have been implemented nationwide with 30,000 agricultural entrepreneurs trained to adopt digital technology. We have yet to confirm other details on the news. So, we should wait for more confirmation from the Digital Ministry.
