Following the ongoing controversy over the GOS app throttling fiascoSamsung CEO and vice chairman Jong-Hee Han has issued a formal apology to customers and shareholders. GOS, short for Game Optimisation Service comes preinstalled on the company’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S22 series and has been caught intentionally limiting the device’s performance.

Han said that Samsung has failed to appreciate its customer’s concerns before bowing in apology. This happened during the company’s annual shareholder’s meeting yesterday.

Owners of the Galaxy S22 began to see something amiss when they got their brand new smartphone last month as some apps were performing badly on the device. After some tweaking, users then start to notice that the GOS app was responsible in limiting the performance of thousands of apps.

The Samsung CEO yesterday clarified that GOS was designed to optimise smartphone performance during gaming. Last week, the company also released an update to GOS that gave users the option to prioritise gaming performance.

Han further stressed during his speech that Samsung will listen to customers more closely moving forward. Furthermore, the company vows to prevent such an issue from happening again in the future.
