Samsung announced that the company will shut down its Samsung Cloud service back in August 2020 and decided to replace it with OneDrive. The users will be having the time to migrate all their data over to OneDrive from last year until this April 2021. However, not all users are affected by the same timeline.

According to the source, Samsung is dividing the deadline for all users across the world into two groups based on the countries. The two groups are named as group 1 and group 2 where Malaysia falls under the group 2 category with a later deadline. There are two stages here, the initial stage allows you to migrate your data to Microsoft OneDrive according to the timeline.

Migration timeline for Group 1 and Group 2

The initial migration period for group 1 ends on March 31 and group 2 ends on May 31. Once that’s over, Samsung will not allow users to migrate the data but you would still be able to download your stored data to a device or PC. After stage 2, all your data will be deleted from July 1 for Group 1 and September 1 for group 2.

However, Samsung is not completely shutting down its Cloud service but only terminating the sync feature for Gallery and My Files along with Premium Storage. For apps like Calendar, Contacts, and Notes, you will still be able to sync it. So remember to backup your data before the deadline. Stay tuned for more tech news updates on TechNave.com.
