Samsung recently made an official confirmation that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will be released in the US on 11 April 2013. This 8-inch tablet looks to compete with Apple's iPad Mini but raises the bar in terms of price to $399 for a 16GB device with WiFi. To put this into context the Apple iPad Mini costs around $329 while the rival Google Nexus 7 just costs $199.

There is a reason for this as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 packs in much better hardware which includes:

  • 1.6GHz Exynos 4 Quad processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 5MP rear camera
  • 8-inch (1280 x 800 pixel resolution)
  • S-pen support
  • 16GB storage (expandable with microSD)

In addition, Samsung have also included 50GB worth of Dropbox storage for 2 years (for new members), unlimited music streaming from Samsung Music Hub and a $25 Google Play gift card. No news yet whether Samsung will offer the same deal here in Malaysia but it should come out sometime around April. Considering the situation here, these additional extras may just be dropped to lower the initial price.
