Of all the things, we didn't expect to see Samsung and Sarawak in a piece of headline news together. Well, Sarawak Shell Bhd just offered a $680 million contract to Samsung Engineering. The latter group will plan to build an onshore gas plant in Bintulu for Shell's Rosmari Marjoram project.
From the official statement, Samsung Engineering was contracted to do engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) for the onshore gas plant. There will be two phases to be carried out before Shell's final investment decision (FID), and then after the FID is secured. The plan is expected to be done by the end of 2025 and has the capacity to process up to 800 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Samsung Engineering has a couple of completed projects around the world and the company looks to discover new business opportunities in the gas market. Moreover, they are also looking to participate in additional Front End Engineering and Design and EPCC projects in Malaysia.
In other news, Samsung Malaysia has been quite quiet on their side. However, we think the next big thing that the company is launching is the next-gen Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4. There aren't many details about them yet so until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
