Samsung Galaxy A53 could launch with unimproved 64MP main camera in 2022

For the last few years, the main camera for mid-range smartphones has gotten increasingly more powerful. But it seems like some companies are unwilling to push further. At the least, Samsung seems to want to keep the main cameras for its mid-range smartphones at 64MP.

According to GalaxyClub.nl (in Dutch), the Samsung Galaxy A53 will have the same 64MP main camera that's found on the Galaxy A52 series. Samsung could be looking to keep its 108MP (or higher) sensors for its flagship smartphones. Of course, the company could also end up improving the Galaxy A53 series' other lenses. For example, the ultra-wide camera (currently 12MP) could be upgraded to 48MP.

Mind you, it's not as if mid-range phones can't support a 108MP camera sensor. In fact, Xiaomi has quite a few that come with a 108MP main camera. The list includes the Redmi Note 9 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10I (India-only), and Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro. Most of these devices were launched last year, so Samsung does have time to change things for 2022.

In the end, this is all just speculation. There's no solid proof of what the Galaxy A53 series would have. Having said that, is a 108MP camera on a mid-range what the average Joe would really want? Share your thoughts in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for updates on this.
