Samsung has announced a new Galaxy Book Go lineup as new laptops powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon ARM-based processors. It is a trend to launch laptops with ARM-based chips nowadays after Apple set the bar with the M1-powered Macs. Therefore, could this be Samsung taking a chance against the Cupertino-based company?
The vanilla Samsung Galaxy Book Go features the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 compute platform and comes in 4G LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants. Its counterpart, Galaxy Book Go 5G, uses the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 and supports 5G connectivity with much higher performance. Other than that, both of the laptops have similar tech specs including 4/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, up to 128GB of eUFS storage, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 ac 2×2), Dolby Atmos speakers, etc.

For the screen, the laptops use a 14-inch Full HD TFT display along with a 720p webcam placed above it. It is also worth mentioning that the laptops can be opened all the way to 180-degrees. Under the hood, they sport a 42.3 Wh battery that supports 25W fast charging over USB Type-C. For the ports, the laptops offer two USB Type-C connectors, a full-sized USB 2.0, a 3.5mm audio jack, a micro SD card slot and an optional nano-SIM card tray. The Galaxy Book Go lineup starts with the price of 349 USD (~RM1,438).
