Samsung may be preparing to launch its most ambitious foldable device yet—the Galaxy G Fold, a tri-fold smartphone potentially priced above RM12100 (around USD 2930).

The new animation leaks from One UI 8 suggest that the device could debut later in Q4 2025, with production possibly beginning as early as September 2025.

One UI 8 beta might have revealed the design

A recent leak has revealed animation files in Samsung’s One UI 8 beta that showcase a new tri-folding form factor.

Internally labeled as “Multifold 7,” the device appears to fold in a “G” shape using two inward hinges, sparking speculation that it could be branded as the Galaxy G Fold.

According to reports, this device is expected to be priced over 4 million KRW—which converts to roughly RM12100—and may see a limited release in China and South Korea.

How it works

The leaked animations were uncovered by Android Authority and suggest that the Galaxy G Fold will feature a large inner display that folds into three sections.

Unlike Huawei’s Mate X series, which uses both inward and outward folds, Samsung’s design folds entirely inward. When folded, the device resembles the letter "G" from a side view, which is likely the inspiration behind the tentative “G Fold” naming.

One of the animations also includes a folding instruction warning, advising users not to close the camera-side panel first. This appears to be a safeguard due to the thicker camera module and asymmetrical hinge design.

The rightmost rear panel shown in the animation houses a triple rear camera setup in a vertical layout and is expected to include NFC hardware.

While Samsung has not officially confirmed the device, Korean outlet The Bell reports that mass production could start in September 2025, followed by a Q4 2025 launch.

The G Fold is not expected to be part of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on 10 July 2025, which will likely focus on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Ring.

Instead, the G Fold may debut as a separate product later in the year.
