Samsung is really going stars with the quality and quantity of the number of Android Smartphones it had announced this January 2011. While phones like Samsung Galaxy S II are competing in the high end segment with iPhones and HTCs, Samsung has also been considering the mid segment of price conscious buyers. “Gio” is the Italian word for Jewel and rightfully Samsung has played one more good move with this release.

Galaxy Gio - Build:

It  is comparatively a small phone with dimensions of 58 X 111 X 12 mm
and its rounded shaped edges makes the phone more stylish. It weighs about 102 grams so its very light on the hand too. Looks of Samsung galaxy Gio will surely amaze as you are having a fully featured large screen display with touch as a prime input method. Samsung Galaxy Gio is having a dotted base behind the screen that looks awesome.

Galaxy Gio - Processor:

Powered by 800 MHz Qualcomm chipset the Gio puts up a decent performance. The phone has 158 MB user available RAM.

Galaxy Gio - Software:

As with the trend the phone has Android software. It is having TouchWiz 3.0 interface on Android Froyo 2.2.
In such a small budget you can hardly any quality Android OS device.

Galaxy Gio - Display:

It has a 3.2 inch LCD display with a decent 320 x 480 pixels resolution which gives a much better performance than a regular TFT-LCD screen in this segment.

Galaxy Gio - Memory:

The Gio comes with a 2 GB microSD card. If needed you can swap it to a maximum of 32 GB.
Internal Memory of the device is just 158 MB. 

Galaxy Gio - Camera:

The 3.2 MP camera
with image resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, Auto focus, LED flash and GEO tagging are some of the extra camera features does has a humble performance. The handset records videos at QVGA resolution at 15 fps.

Galaxy Gio - Connectivity:

As normal in this range the Gio has 7.2 Mbps HSPDA 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth3.0, A-GPS, DLNA and FM Radio with RDS. The DLNA allows the handset to connect with PC or TV and stream multimedia wireless. 

For the comfort of the user the Galaxy Gio is having power lock button on the right side, for entertainment it is having FM radio, Music player, voice memo, speaker and 3.5mm audio jack.

Galaxy Gio - Battery Life:

The 1350 mAh battery has a decent 6 hours and 40 minutes life with talk time on 3G. Although its decent but nothing so extra ordinary.

Verdict:

The Samsung Galaxy Gio is a perfect buy in the mid segment range. It surely doesn’t has any out of class specifications and it also has many plus points like a good screen and a decent processor. Considering the price it surely is a good.
