When the Samsung Galaxy Ring was first announced last July, some were disappointed that it wouldn't come to Malaysia. Sure, it's fairly pricey for a niche device. But there's no denying its tech fashion value. However, Samsung confirmed in January that the device would be coming to 15 other countries starting in February, and Malaysia is on that list.
It's been a few weeks since, but we recently got a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy Ring. The smart ring is available in Malaysia starting today (9 April 2025), retailing for RM2,099. So, what can tech enthusiasts do with this device, and is it something you would want? Check out the details and our first impressions below.
Design
Unless you've been living under a rock or avoiding the Internet, you've probably seen the Galaxy Ring before. While its appearance isn't as fancy as luxury rings, it has a simple but elegant look that wouldn't feel out of place. Made with a titanium casing, the Galaxy Ring has a smooth surface that's expected to be durable. As for the inside, a layer of epoxy over the surface makes it feel comfortable when worn.
The size and choice of material result in an ultra-light and portable body. This could be ideal if you're not a fan of watches (like me because they make my wrist itch) or for specific use cases where a lighter device is preferred, like sleep tracking. Since the Galaxy Ring is certified IP68, it's water-resistant to fresh water at up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. That means you could enjoy a long swimming session in the pool without worrying about the Ring.
Another good news is we're not getting short-changed here; Malaysia will have all three variants of the Galaxy Ring, which arrives in Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold colours. It will also be available in 11 sizes (5 to 15). For a size comparison, you can refer to the photo below.
