Today, Samsung has finally unveiled the latest Samsung Galaxy S22 series globally. As expected from the leaks, there's the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and the Galaxy S22 Ultra that comes with an S-Pen. Essentially, the ultra variant is sort of like a revived Galaxy Note so here's what you need to know about the phones.
Obviously, the most anticipated thing among the lineup is the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The S-Pen can only be used for the ultra variant and the Galaxy Tab S8, featuring 2.8 milliseconds of input latency. Compare that with the Galaxy Note 20 series, this is almost threefold as low (vs 9 milliseconds). Samsung was also proud to announce that this model's body material was recycled with discarded fishing nets and has a new improved cooling technology.
In terms of tech specs, there isn't much change (more or less). The Galaxy S22 Ultra features a huge 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display supporting QHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Then for the camera, you can find a 108MP (main) + 12MP (ultrawide) + 10MP (periscope) + 10MP (telephoto) quad rear camera setup.
Samsung has been teasing its camera capabilities for a while now, its 10MP telephoto and periscope can support 10x optical zoom up to 100x electronic zoom with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). Its ultrawide lens also has an AI Super Resolution technology to make the image better, even more so with the new HM3 sensor for night photo shots and faster image capturing performance.
On the other hand, the front camera got an upgrade to 40MP. Samsung even added a Live Video post-production function so that the user can take Live Focus Video or 4K resolution when taking selfies. Then for the battery pack, it's still the same 5000mAh battery capacity with 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging technology. By the way, the Galaxy S22 series won't come with a charging brick in the box.
Last but not least, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset with a maximum memory capacity of 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. To get the whole tech specs details, you can read on below:
