Our smartphones can do many things today, with flagships delivering the best performances. Some phones are great for gaming, while others are for photography enthusiasts. Of course, there are also flagship phones that strike a balance in multiple areas.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series definitely fits this description, as all three models are powerful devices for different users. With that said, what areas do these phones do well in and how do they perform? Here's our rundown of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series' performance based on our experience with two phones from this series - the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Productivity
Don't want to carry a laptop around? That's fine because a flagship smartphone is more than enough for some basic productivity. With the help of a small portable Bluetooth keyboard, the Galaxy S25 series phones can turn into miniature laptops. You can type emails or write up documents easily with such a setup, making it good for people who want to commute light.

In addition, the Galaxy S25 series phones have interesting features to help with your work. Thanks to the Google Gemini-powered Galaxy AI, you can quickly get summaries of documents you read, draft emails without spending much time, or translate whole documents with ease. It can even summarise videos for you, which is handy for videos with instructional or educational content, like cooking videos with a recipe to follow.
Photography
Maybe more work on your phone isn't what you need. Sure, the Galaxy S25 series phones are great for other tasks, like photography. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ come with a 50MP main camera, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra packs one with a powerful 200MP sensor. All three phones can capture sharp and vibrant photos, with optical image stabilisation to prevent blurry shots. They can perform well in low-light situations too, so you rarely have to worry about the time of day.
Turn your selfies into caricatures
The AI Proscaler really helps with macro shots
For people who aren't confident with their photography skills, the Galaxy S25 series phones have features to help make your shots look better. The features include filters and AI image editing, which can perform advanced functions like erasing unwanted objects or transforming your portrait photo into a caricature. Thanks to the new AI Pro Visual Engine, the Galaxy S25 series phones can also deliver improved macro and zoom shots. On top of that, the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra both come with a new AI Proscaler feature, which promises a 40% improvement in display image scaling quality.
Gaming
Another aspect we want to highlight is the gaming performance of the Galaxy S25 series. Sporting a customised Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the Galaxy S25 series can handle the most demanding games with no issues. In Genshin Impact, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra can run at the highest graphics settings and at 60fps.
No problems gaming on the highest settings
While that's not hard for most flagship phones, the Galaxy S25 series phones can do this without becoming warm. In that aspect, the Galaxy S25 Ultra performs the best as it has a large cooling vapour chamber inside, ensuring smooth gaming while keeping the phone relatively cool.
Of course, there's more to the Galaxy S25 series smartphones. The improved Google Gemini-powered Galaxy AI offers some new AI features for greater convenience in certain areas, like the video summarising we've mentioned (more about those here). You can also use the phones for vlogging or streaming on platforms like TikTok, as the camera is equally capable in the video department.
