Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 4GB is a trimmed down version of Samsung’s top selling device Galaxy S i9000. The major difference is Samsung Galaxy SL comes with a Super Clear LCD instead of AMOLED display in the Galaxy S and 4GB inbuilt memory in SL compared to  8/16GB in the S model.

Samsung Galaxy SL - LCD:

It is a value for money mobile phone with almost all necessary smartphone features included. Many of the features included in Samsung Galaxy SL were available only in above 25,000 level phones till few months back.

Samsung Galaxy SL - Display:

Due to unavailability of AMOLED display screen and to reduce the cost Samsung changed the display in i9003 to Super Clear LCD. The 4 inch SC LCD produces bright and clear display with good picture clarity at 480×800 pixels resolution.

Samsung Galaxy SL - Connectivity:

Samsung Galaxy SL comes with all basic connectivity options like GPRS, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB. We tested it with Tata Docomo GPRS connection and Airtel and BSNL 3G connections and worked well without and issues. With DLNA feature and Allshare you can stream music from mobile to nearby Wi-Fi enabled devices. For example you can play music on your mobile and listen it from Windows Media Player on your PC.

Samsung Galaxy SL - Camera:

Samsung Galaxy SL is equipped with two cameras – 5MP main camera and VGA front camera for video calling. 5 megapixel camera produces somewhat ok pictures in outdoors when there is good light but indoor picture quality is not good as there is no flash. Video quality is very good when there is sufficient light and can produce good quality HD videos at 720p (1280 x 720) resolution.

Samsung Galaxy SL - Battery:

1650 mAh battery gives good battery backup. As per official Samsung specifications it gives 769 minutes 2G talk time and 750 hours 2G standby time but you will feel like battery is draining up fast especially there are many apps running or Wi-Fi/GPS enabled.

Samsung Galaxy SL - Memory:

This is one of the crucial elements of all the mobile phones, especially the smart phones. The Smart phones are loaded with high end features and applications and thus it is essential to have good storage capacity. Samsung Galaxy SL impresses with its storage specifications, which says that the internal memory of the phone is 16 GB, while there is a microSD™ card slot to increase the memory capacity up to 32 GB.

Conclusion:

As per our analysis the only drawback in Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 is the quality of the speakerphone. Its sound is not loud enough and sound quality also not good. But the supplied headphone produces high quality sound and you can listen to 5.1 surround sound with it.

Overall it is a good value for money phone with all major latest features . The only missing part is the HDMI port and camera Flash. With Android 2.2 it is easy to navigate and install applications and with in-built GPU its graphics quality also good. Browsing also easy and fast with Flash support.
