Samsung have announced their next iteration in their SmartTag tracking device with the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2. Featuring an extended battery life of up to 700 days thanks to a new Power Saving Mode and 500 days on Normal Mode, the IP67 water and dust resistance rated SmartTag2 should make it a lot easier if you want to track things like pets, luggage and children.

This is because it also has Lost Mode which allows those with an NFC capable smartphone to see who the SmartTag2 belongs to and Compass View which provides both direction and distance information. It also utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy and a new Samsung Knox encrypted SmartThings Find app so you can find the SmartTag2 (and what it’s clipped to) just by using your camera.

Unknown tag alerts also notifies you of unauthorized users tracking your SmartTag2. To use it, it needs a Samsung account log-in and Android 11 or higher compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but there’s no news yet about Malaysia release dates or pricing details.

It is expected to go global on 11 October 2023 for $29.99 (~RM141.43) though. Would you buy it for that price? Share your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com
