Besides foldable phones, Samsung also unveiled its latest smartwatch series at the July 2025 Galaxy Unpacked event. Unlike previous years, Samsung announced not two but three new smartwatches - the Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025). Refer to their details below.
Galaxy Watch8 + Galaxy Watch8 Classic
At a glance, the Galaxy Watch8 doesn't look all that different from its predecessor. However, the new model features the cushion design first found in the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It's also 11% thinner and feels more comfortable. With the Dynamic Lug system, the new model also boasts improved health-tracking accuracy thanks to the better fit. For the Galaxy Watch8 Classic, there's a rotating bezel and quick button for added convenience.

The Galaxy Watch8 also has an upgraded display that's 50% brighter (3000 nits peak brightness), a larger battery (44mm: 435mAh, 40mm: 325mAh), and dual-frequency GPS for more detailed and precise location results. Additionally, the new mode packs a 3nm processor to deliver faster performance and improved power efficiency.
In terms of features, both models are the same with the BioActive Sensor, Bedtime Guidance, Running Coach, High Stress Alert and more. The new Galaxy Watch8 series is powered by Wear OS 6, which now supports Gemini AI features. Now, you can use voice commands to initiate different functions instead of swiping on the watch. For example, you can ask Gemini to create reminders, find nearby cafes, text a friend, or start the counter for a 30-minute run.
Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025)

Besides the Galaxy Watch8 series, Samsung also announced a new successor to last year's Galaxy Watch Ultra. This Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) has an impressive maximum runtime of 100 hours and 10 ATM/IP68 water resistance. Like its predecessor, it has a square body with a circular screen inside.
Prices and availability
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Watch8 series and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) are available for pre-orders starting today. The Galaxy Watch8 will come in 40mm and 44mm sizes, while the Galaxy Watch8 Classic and Watch Ultra (2025) are larger at 46mm and 47mm. For prices, check the table below.
