Tonight, Samsung finally revealed the new next-gen Galaxy Z foldable phones - the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5. In this article, we will be focusing on the Galaxy Z Fold5 so here's everything you need to know.
For starters, the Galaxy Z Fold5 design is pretty much what you expect. It looks more or less the same, but this time with an interior 7.6-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with an increased 1750 nits peak brightness. It's also somehow slightly lighter (10g lesser than before) and now supports a full folding Flex Hinge with zero gaps in between. The integrated hinge was revamped with a dual rail design, ultrathin glass, IPX8, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Inside the machine, the Galaxy Z Fold5 features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset as expected, 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. Its battery pack is 4400mAh only but Samsung said the engineering team has improved the vapour chamber by 38%, decreasing the heat for those who want to do more multitasking, open more apps on the taskbar and intense mobile gaming.
Speaking of multitasking, it can now support a pop-up view of up to four windows and they can be hidden in a stacked widget. The pop-up view is supported in multi-window and Samsung integrated a few new convenient tools, such as a new flex mode panel, more playback functions and an adjustable toolbar.
In terms of cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold5 has a 50MP (main, OIS) + 12MP (ultrawide) + 10MP (telephoto, OIS) triple rear camera, as well as a 4MP + 10MP camera on the exterior display. Interestingly, there is actually a Galaxy Z Fold5 S-Pen edition which is 41% slimmer and it needs a cover for the stylus. Also, before we forget - the Dynamic AMOLED 2x cover screen is 6.2 inches and supports a 120Hz refresh rate as well.
