Samsung has officially announced that its next-generation foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 will be equipped with enhanced Galaxy AI capabilities. The device is expected to launch in early July. EVP & Head of Mobile R&D Office at Samsung Mobile eXperience Business, Won-Joon Choi emphasised in a blog post that the company aims to optimise the AI experience specifically for this foldable device.
He emphasised that combining a versatile foldable form with advanced AI technology will open up new user possibilities Samsung plans to revolutionise the mobile experience with a "hybrid AI approach" that balances the responsiveness and privacy of on-device AI with the diversity of cloud-based AI. This approach involves collaborating with leading industry partners to provide a variety of day-to-day functions. Samsung believes that this method is the most practical and reliable to meet the needs of consumers and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Additionally, Samsung will improve the Live Translate AI feature by expanding its support to third-party messaging apps and integrating voice-calling capabilities. The feature will leverage on-device AI for language translation, ensuring user privacy by keeping personal data on the phone. Choi expects that as Neural Processing Units (NPUs) evolve, more AI features will be processed on devices, further enhancing the user experience.
