Samsung is expected to launch its first tri-fold smartphone this year, believed to be called the Galaxy Z TriFold, but the launch date is still under wraps. According to patent documents published by the source, the device will house three batteries, one in each folding segment.
Three separate batteries in three different segments
The drawings in the patent show that the smallest battery (T1) is in the section that houses the main camera, the second largest battery (T3) in the outer display segment, while the largest battery (T2) is in the middle section that will fold between the other two segments.
Although the capacity and charging speed have not been disclosed, many hope it will be better than the Galaxy Z Fold7, which only offers a 4400 mAh battery with 25W wired charging.
There were rumours that the Galaxy Z TriFold might only launch in South Korea and China, but the latest report says it will also be coming to the US market with a launch expected later this month.
Around the same time, Samsung is also expected to introduce its first Android XR headset codenamed Project Moohan. Pre-registration for the mixed reality device is said to begin from October 15 to 21, ahead of its launch on October 22 in South Korea.
