Today, Samsung Electronics surprised us with its latest Galaxy Z TriFold. According to the official announcement, this is the company's first multi-folding smartphone designed to combine portability, premium performance, and flexible productivity. Here's everything you need to know about it.
Display and Form-Factor
The Galaxy Z TriFold is Samsung’s first smartphone with a dual-folding, three-panel design. In its compact form, it functions as a conventional smartphone via a 6.5-inch cover display (FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED). When unfolded, the device reveals a massive 10.0-inch inner display (Dynamic AMOLED 2X, QXGA+, 2160 × 1584 resolution), transforming the phone into a tablet-class screen.

The outer display peaks at an impressive 2600 nits brightness, while the inner, larger display reaches 1600 nits brightness and supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate for smooth motion. In terms of dimensions, when fully unfolded, the device panels measure roughly 3.9mm at the thinnest section, while the varying panel thickness across the tri-fold design spans 3.9 / 4.0 / 4.2mm.
Performance and Battery
Powering the TriFold is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy (3 nm) — Samsung’s top-tier chipset in 2025, built to handle the extra demands of a multi-folding design. Paired with 16GB of RAM, the phone is geared toward heavy-duty multitasking, gaming, productivity tasks and seamless app switching. In terms of storage options, users can choose between 512GB or 1TB of internal storage.
One of the standout specs is the battery: a 5600 mAh triple-cell battery, spread across the three folding panels, promising “all-day” endurance. This gives the TriFold the largest battery capacity among Samsung’s foldable phones to date.
Cameras and Imaging
For cameras, the TriFold carries a triple rear camera system, headlined by a 200MP main sensor (f/1.7), complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto lens (with 3x optical zoom). Selfie cameras appear on both the inner display and the outer cover display, giving users flexibility whether the phone is folded or unfolded.
Build, Durability and Practical Design Considerations

To support its unique tri-fold structure, Samsung engineered two different hinges (a titanium dual-rail hinge system), ensuring smoother folding/unfolding and better structural integrity under repeated use. The folding display is claimed to be reinforced with a shock-absorbing overcoat layer, enhancing the durability of the flexible panel.
On the software side, the large 10-inch screen enables enhanced multitasking. The device supports multiple app windows simultaneously, making it more like a mini-tablet or productivity device when unfolded.
Global Availability and Launch Markets
The Galaxy Z TriFold will first launch in South Korea on 12 December 2025, followed shortly by availability in China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the United States. Purchasers will also receive an exclusive 6-month trial of Google AI Pro, offering:
- Video generation powered by Veo3

- 2TB of secure cloud storage
Customers will be able to experience hands-on demos at select physical retail stores in each launch region. More details are available on Samsung Newsroom, and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
