You know how sometimes you might want to change up your living room setup? It’s great for refreshing your living room feel. However, sometimes because of your setup decisions you may have to change the location and even placement of various things, including your soundbar.

Featuring a Convertible Fit design powered by a built-in gyroscope, the Samsung HW-QS700F Q-Series compact wireless soundbar automatically adapts its sound output depending on its placement.

This allows it to offer a 3.1.2-channel configuration with Dolby Atmos support whether it is placed horizontally on a table or mounted vertically on a wall. Priced at RM2699, is it the soundbar for you? Find out in our review below.

Flexible design for various setups

The Samsung HW-QS700F soundbar can be placed both on the table-top or wall mounted

One of the HW-QS700F’s standout features is its Convertible Fit design, powered by a built-in gyroscope sensor. This sensor automatically detects the soundbar’s orientation and adjusts the speaker roles to maintain balanced audio output.

Perhaps because of this, the soundbar looks like it has speaker vents all over the chassis. This includes perforated holes on the sides and radiator rails on the top.

The top has a radiator rail sort of design

The corners are rounded while the sides have perforated holes

While at first glance, the soundbar just looks like a typical long black bar, it does in fact have rounded corners on the sides, giving it a more sleek and modern look. On the top where the radiator rails are, is the control panel with buttons for volume up, volume down, power and connectivity.

The package includes a wireless subwoofer equipped with a 6.5-inch active driver and an 8-inch passive radiator. This compact design delivers deep bass without taking up much floor space, making it suitable for smaller living areas or minimalist home setups.

Thanks to the Convertible Fit design, the HW-QS700F soundbar automatically adjusts the sound so it plays just as good when wall mounted as it does on a table-top or cabinet

Immersive sound with modern connectivity

In terms of performance, the sound quality is very good. Thanks to the Q-symphony mode you can create a richer sounding audio when it links together with the TV speaker.

Since the sub-woofer is also wireless, as long as there’s an electric plug, you can place it anywhere. We liked to place it at the back for some superb 3D surround sound.

The bundled subwoofer is wireless but it still needs a power socket to work

Connecting and setting up the soundbar is very easy. Just plug in the HDMI, pair up the soundbar wirelessly via Bluetooth and that’s it. However, we would have liked it better if there was a screen on the soundbar or something to indicate changes.

As it is, we had to pay close attention to either the app or the remote control, but you get used to it after a while. It’d also be nice if there were other colour options as well, instead of just titan black.

Connectivity options are comprehensive, with HDMI eARC, optical input, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, AirPlay, Chromecast, and Spotify Connect all supported. Audio format compatibility includes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby TrueHD.

While the HW-QS700F offers HDMI passthrough, it is limited to 4K at 60Hz. This should be enough for most gamers, but it’s not a complete surround sound setup. The wireless connectivity and versatile placement does make it very convenient though.

Overall, if you are looking for a mid-range Dolby Atmos soundbar in Malaysia that balances flexibility, sound quality, and modern features, the Samsung HW-QS700F could be a solid choice especially if you already have a Samsung Smart TV.

Its Convertible Fit design, compact wireless subwoofer, and broad connectivity options make it suitable for a variety of home setups, especially if you don’t like dealing with too many cables.
