Samsung Malaysia Electronics launches its 6th SMART Library for the Pusat Latihan Polis (PULAPOL)

Today, Samsung Malaysia Electronics has launched a new Samsung SMART Library at their premises. The SMART Library is part of the Samsung Global Corporate Citizenship initiative that employs Samsung technology and expertise for the betterment of local communities, with that, it serves as a digital-publication reading zone initiative that is made available exclusively for members of the training centre. The latest SMART Library is a collaboration between Samsung Malaysia and Pusat Latihan Polis Kuala Lumpur (PULAPOL KL).

The launch was officiated by YDH Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar, Inspector-General of Police, Malaysia, accompanied by YDH SAC Dato’ Zahari Mohd Yusoff, Commandant of PULAPOL KL, and YBhg. Dato’ Roh Jae Yeol, Director of Corporate Affairs, Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd.

As part of the Goverment's vision to transform Malaysia into an information-rich Knowledge Society by the year 2020, now more users and young police officers can access into various digital reading sources and a wide range of information to assist their mandatory trainings and enrich their minds.

At the launch event, YDH Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar, Inspector-General of Police, Malaysia said, “The Royal Malaysia Police is proud to partner with Samsung for the launch of SMART Library for PULAPOL KL. Through the Samsung SMART Library, police officers can increase their awareness and knowledge in ICT, as well as foster positive reading habits through the availability of digital contents such as e-Books and other SMART Samsung devices to assist them in their studies. We thank Samsung Malaysia Electronics for their effort in helping the Royal Malaysia Police in preparing our future police officers to be highly knowledgeable and ICT savvy through the Samsung SMART Library initiative.’’

Covering an area of 1885 square feet, the PULAPOL KL Samsung SMART Library is the sixth of its kind in Malaysia and has three reading areas and a SMART Room for enhanced learning experience. Over 40 Samsung devices comprising tablets and SMART TVs, as well as e-books comprising Malaysian and current law journals, Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia (PNM) are available for the users.

“With the launch of the Samsung SMART Library in PULAPOL KL, we believe we will be able to equip police officers with the knowledge for the digital age. The Samsung SMART Library serves as a beneficial platform for future officers to learn in a digitally-improved environment with easy access to relevant research materials to solidify their learning enhancement. We are grateful that this partnership with Samsung Malaysia Electronics will help pave the way for smarter generations of police officers,’’ added YDH Dato’ Zahari Mohd Yusoff, Senior Assistant Commisioner of PULAPOL KL.

We want to prepare everyone to move ahead. The new intelligent and tech savy generation of today are given the opportunity to access more information, nurture a variety of expertise and advanced computer knowledge that can be useful for the safety of the country in the near future. Once they join the workforce, they would be able to apply their skills and expertise to help generate positive changes in the country. We hope that through the Samsung SMART Library initiative, members of PULAPOL KL will be inspired and engaged to learn more. It’s a pleasure partnering with PULAPOL KL in helping them to achieve their mission.

To date, Samsung Malaysia Electronics has opened its SMART Library across Malaysia in Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Negeri Perlis, Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Terengganu, Samsung SMART Zone in Pagoh, and the previous last one, the SMART Library at the Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur in June 2014.
