It has been a while since we last wrote about the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star. We last reported it as a rumour way back in May this year and we totally forgot about its existence until Samsung Malaysia officially announced the phone on their Twitter account. That said, the Galaxy A8 Star is currently on sale on their official website for RM1799 (updated).
So is there any difference between the Galaxy A8 Star and the Galaxy A8 (2018) series? Yes and no. The phones look similar in some ways, except that the Galaxy A8 Star's back design has shifted the dual rear camera setup to the top left now instead of the middle, the rear fingerprint sensor has also moved up quite high in the middle. It should be noted that Samsung has also removed the IP68 water and dust resistance and the Face Unlock feature as well for some reason.

Anyway, the Galaxy A8 Star is marketed as another selfie smartphone. It's capable of shooting Portrait Mode thanks to the dual camera setup which you can adjust after shooting. In addition, there are also Smart Beauty, Pro Lighting and AR stickers for the selfie lovers, as well as Bixby assistant to help you out on your daily tasks if you need it. Besides that, there's nothing else out of the ordinary to notice.
