Mr Yoonsoo Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics presenting the new Samsung QLED TV
Today, Samsung Malaysia Electronics has introduced a new and enhanced QLED TV. While it is not something new, however, it now features an Intelligent Visual Expression, Adaptive Display, SmartThings app and other features that we talked about last week. There are three TV lineups - QLED TV, Premium UHD and UHD from starting price of RM8489 for the 55-inch model (0% GST) starting 1 June 2018.
To celebrate the official QLED TV launch in Bolehland, the company is offering a "Samsung Exclusive Launch Offer" to Malaysians which comprises of three different gift packages and they can only choose one. First up, the "Ultimate Care Package" offers free 2 + 3 years extended warranty and Samsung Soundbar (worth RM5282), followed by "Total Entertainment Solution" with a free premium Samsung Atmos Soundbar (worth RM5659) and lastly, the "Perfect Gaming Companion" that comes with a free QLED Curved Gaming Monitor (worth RM4150). These exclusive offers will run from 4 - 6 June 2-18.
The QLED TV in the flesh, it's really huge
Previously called as "Deeper Black Contrast level", the new QLED TVs now has a Direct Full Array to create a better picture quality. It uses the screen panel with zones of smartly controlled backlighting that adjust automatically to deliver deep blacks and pure whites, providing a better viewing experience in the dark
There's also a new Anti-reflection technology that we didn't get to see in Vietnam. As the name suggests, this feature ensures everyone can enjoy watching the TV from any angle without any reflection from the panel. How this was achieved is using a boost contrast by the Samsung Q Engine chip that automatically upscales on-screen content to UHD levels to further enhance our viewing experience.
Next, we mentioned about the Magic Screen before, serving as an energy-saving function that allows the TV to display real-time information such as the weather and news. It even can mimic the pattern on the wall behind the TV which is really cool
The No-Gap Wall Mount (left) and One Invisible Connection (right) which can now go up to 15 meters long
Steam Link is confirmed for the Malaysia market!
The One Remote to rule them all
Last but not least, you can also control the TV with SmartThings apps which can be downloaded in Apple (must be iOS 8) and Google Play Store (Android 6.0 Marshmallow)
Overall, there are 9 series across the QLED TV, Premium UHD and UHD display range, in a wide variety of sizes, flat and curved. The QLED TVs features enhanced colour and contrast, HDR10+ compatibility, Magic Screen, Smart TV enhancements with SmartThings, One Remote Control and the One Invisible Connection. As for the Premium UHD, it does not possess the Invisible Connection, whereas the UHD only has 4K UHD and HDR technology, clean cable solutions and Smart TV capabilities.
