Samsung has released an app called Safety Screen targeted specifically at children. It warns your kids and tell them to hold the device at a safe distance when they are are using their smartphone or tablet. It goes as far as blocking the screen with a pop-up animated sign, telling them to keep a safe distance. This way your kids will understand that every time they see that sign, they know they need to move back a little to have the sign disappear. It relies on the front camera and facial recognition to judge a safe distance between the kids and the device they hold.
Samsung ran a research regarding this topic, and their data concluded that having the screen up close can often result in having headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, fatigue, brain strain, and corneal attacks. Some of these issues may sound familiar to you and what is worst, your kid may already undergo these kind of problems too at their age. If you are interested in trying this out, you can download the app in the Google Play Store, and unfortunately, as for now this app is only available on Android.
