Mobile apps can control a variety of products these days, thanks to wireless connectivity. It's even happening with some cars, which have fancy displays and software. In fact, Samsung is adding controls for cars to its SmartThings app.
Home to Car announced
Samsung has announced the launch of "Home to Car", a new feature to the company's SmartThings app for automobiles. The new feature allows users to check the status of their vehicle, albeit only select models from Korean makers. As part of a collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group, Home to Car currently functions only with Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia cars.

It also requires the vehicle to have a relatively recent in-car infotainment system. Home to Car will support Hyundai and Kia cars with systems released after November 2022, while Genesis cars will need one released after October 2023. The vehicle must also have a paid subscription to its car maker's infotainment services. Specifically, Genesis Connected, Hyundai BlueLink and KIA Connect, respectively.
Further expansion unknown
Could Samsung expand support for the feature to other regions and car brands in the future? We don't know yet, but Samsung confirmed that it's currently limited to South Korea. Also, expansion to other countries and car brands "will be reviewed" in the future.
With that said, is this a feature you would use over your car remote or key? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
