Back in the year 1999, Samsung launched the world's very first watch phone – The SPH-WP10. The watch phone was capable of executing 90 minutes talk time and had a monochrome LCD screen. Then after a decade, the S9110 was released and it looked like a miniature phone making it the world's slimmest watch phone in the period. As time progressed, smartwatches came along and Samsung introduced the Galaxy Gear, followed by the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, Gear Fit, Gear S and now the Gear S2 which is coming to Malaysia on 27 November.

Efficiency

With wearables today, customers can utilize the technologies given on the watches to customize client interactions and personalize it. Take the Gear S for example, equipped with a 2-inch super AMOLED display, users can take a glance at their notifications or messages without having to take out their phone. Users are also able to accept calls, reply messages via on-screen keyboard or voice command and connect hands-free to e-mails, calendars, productivity applications and real-time notifications. To put it simply, your watch is like a smartphone now.

In the health and fitness section, the Gear Fit, Gear S, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are made for users who are concerned about their daily activities. All these devices are lightweight and comfortable during a workout, tracking your movement and collecting data on your progress, such as your heart rate, steps taken daily, calorie intake, stress level, sun exposure and others. This can be accessed through S Health, and it's programmed for user to take control of their healthy lifestyles. Third party apps are also available for the devices, such  as Nike+ Running and Trek Bicycle for users to stay motivated.

As mentioned earlier, Samsung wearables have excellent connectivity that allows users to receive notifications and messages without having to take out their smartphone. The Gear S is a great example of this, it can connect through WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth. It can even receive calls with a vibrate function to notify you, making you feel like James Bond. This can be done through the Gear Circle pairing with your smartphone, and even lets you listen to some music and make voice commands via a Bluetooth connection.

Design

Samsung wearables are usually rectangular with interchangeable wristbands, but the Gear 2 took the design look to another level by looking more elegant. The Gear Fit and Gear S applied the curved display technology for a comfortable and contoured fit. This has made the smartwatch line more fashionable, where users can customize screen options and change the straps according to their taste and style to define their personality. To win the users' taste of fashionable straps, Samsung partnered with leaders in the fashion industry like Moschino, Swarovski and Nicholas Kirkwood.

Nobody will know what the future holds, but as the technology and innovation continues to scale up; the future of Samsung Wearables is looking bright. But since our lifestyle have vastly changed so much with these smart devices from work to home, exercising and interacting, the future might have already arrived sooner than we think.
