Google I/O saw Samsung and Google finally officially unveil new AI smart glasses developed in collaboration with popular fashion brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The wearables run on the Android XR platform and will come in two different designs that reflect the identities of the two brands.

No known details on the glasses though

While full specifications have yet to be revealed, Google and Samsung have already begun to show off some of the key features that will be offered through these AI smart glasses. Among the most exciting features is hands-free access to Gemini using voice commands.

Moreover, you can get real-time navigation, search for nearby locations and receive personalised recommendations directly through the glasses. In addition, Android XR also supports various productivity functions, including placing orders, viewing message notifications in summary form, creating calendar events and more, without having to take out the phone.

Besides that, Samsung and Google have also confirmed that the device can perform real-time translation during conversations. The built-in AI camera can also translate text and signs in real time, and can be used to capture photos and videos.

Like most other smart glasses on the market, they still require a connection to a smartphone to fully function. The official images shared also show the use of a single main camera along with an LED indicator light on the frame.

Furthermore, Samsung and Google have yet to announce full hardware specifications or official pricing, but the launch is scheduled to take place around September, with more information expected to be shared in the coming months.
