Samsung beats the rest in smartphone shipments for Q2 2017

Its official, Samsung has taken it home again for the 2nd quarter of 2017, maintaining their lead spot in the smartphone market, shipping 22.1% of the world’s smartphones.

The total number of smartphones Samsung shipped equals to around 79.5 million devices, a whopping 1.9 million more than last year during the same quarter.

At the number 2 spot, we see Apple with their iPhones at 40.4 million devices, followed by Huawei at 3rd, Oppo at 4th and finally Xiaomi at 5th. Honourable mention to Xiaomi though, for achieving an annual growth of 58%.

The 2nd Quarter of 2017 sees a market growth of around 6% YoY and reaches around a 360 million unit increase.
