In the years since foldable smartphones were introduced, these devices have become a new category of expensive, premium devices. Relatively affordable ones do exist, of course, like the nubia Flip 5G (RM2499). But if you want one from a big brand, Samsung could have one in 2025.

According to a rumour (via Android Authority), Samsung could launch a Galaxy Z Flip FE sometime next year. Some of you may know that the Fan Edition variants of Samsung devices tend to be cheaper than their original counterparts. This is often achieved through using more affordable parts or materials, thus reducing the device's overall cost.

For the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE, the compromise is allegedly an older flagship chipset. It's also expected to have a lower 128GB base storage capacity, less RAM, and a less powerful camera setup. Another source supports the rumour of an affordable Samsung foldable phone, claiming that it was mentioned during a Samsung conference call. If true, the Galaxy Z Flip FE could be that device.

"We are considering ways to lower entry barriers so that more customers can actually experience foldable products, given the high satisfaction among existing foldable users," hinting at the preparation of budget-friendly foldable models. (Source)
