During the launch of the Galaxy S25 series last month, the existence of a tri-folding screen device was teased alongside smart glasses and an XR headset. Previous rumours said the device would launch as the Galaxy G Fold in a few years. So, what should you know about it?
According to a report by Android Police, the Galaxy G will launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 around July. Plus, the Galaxy G could feature a 6.49-inch external screen that expands to 9.96-inch when unfolded. The design of the upcoming Galaxy G will not be the same as the Mate XT Ultimate, which was the world’s first tri-fold device. Instead, the Galaxy G will follow the design of the previous Flex G prototype.
In addition, Both the left and right doors of the screen will fold inwards. Therefore the foldable screen will not be susceptible to damage. This is probably the best design choice because one of the issues with the outward folding used on the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate and Mate X is that damage occurs because the folding screen does not have a more durable glass layer to prevent damage.
Samsung is also believed to be producing a limited number of the Galaxy G first. This is a similar marketing tactic to last year's Galaxy Ring. More widespread marketing will only be done if there is a high demand for the tri-fold screen device among consumers.
