Last month, we reported the existence of the Exynos 2500 chipset which could be featured on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series. However, a new report said the opposite, saying that the next-gen Galaxy might as well use the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 AP (application processor).
Of course, Snapdragon chipsets are usually used in regions such as the US. In this new report from Korea, Samsung Electronics seem to have decided to apply the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 AP of Qualcomm in the US to the Galaxy S25 series. In contrast, the Exynos 2500 is considered to power the next-gen Galaxy Z series in the second half of 2025.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 AP will focus heavily on AI functions and graphics processing. According to the report, it has an improved core performance by over 30% compared to its predecessor, including generative AI functions. With this, Samsung hopes to compete with Apple for the lead in AI phones, hence the decision to use Qualcomm chips instead of its own Exynos 2500.
In addition, it could be possible that only the Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 AP, while the standard and Plus variants are set for either Snapdragon or Exynos, depending on the market region. Anyway, it's not something that we are surprised by since this similar strategy has happened plenty of times.
The next-gen Galaxy S25 is likely to debut in the first quarter of 2025, especially in January or sometimes February, given its track records. There are still a few more months to go so until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
