In just within two years, Samsung has once again made a breakthrough in developing another new Universal Flash Storage (UFS). You will be seeing more UFS 4.0 solutions in future devices and it has just received the JEDEC Board of Director's approval.

Taken from Samsung Semiconductor's Twitter account, Samsung said that the new UFS 4.0's improved performance and power efficiency can offer a speed of up to 23.2Gbps per lane. Compared with UFS 3.0, the delivery is twice as much and is suitable for 5G smartphones that require a big load of data processing, as well as AR and VR.

Moreover, the UFS 4.0 can deliver a reading speed of up to 4,200MB/s and a sequential writing speed of up to 2,800MB/s. Thanks to Samsung's own advanced 7th-Gen V-NAND technology, it's also able to deliver a sequential read speed of 6.0MB/s per mA. That's a 46% improvement from its predecessor.

Lastly, the UFS 4.0 will be more compact than the UFS 3.0, measuring in 11 x 13 x 1mm only which will allow more space for devices. It even comes with up to 1TB of space which is most impressive. Samsung will begin to mass-produce it during the third quarter of 2022 so I guess we can expect devices to feature that by the end of the year. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
