Samsung files new smartwatch patents – one that accepts gestures, the other that wraps around your wrist

While the smartwatch market is getting smaller and perhaps more niche, companies are still making strides in design and technological advancements. Take for example Samsung. We like their Gear series of devices, and we have discovered some new patents that gives some hints on what their future smart wearables may look like.

One patent sees a bracelet-like display that can be manipulated physically to control the device. By pushing the braclet-like device left/right/up/down the settings of the bracelet can be accessed by the user. Plus, the device looks to have a circular screen like a normal watch.

The other patent sees a device that can literally be wrapped around the wrist like a bracelet, but will have advance functions for the user. Looks to combine the functions of a smartwatch and a smartphone – this new device may bring a new meaning to ‘wearable technology’.

Like all patents – the filing of one may just be to secure the technology behind the design – so we may not see these design ever become real devices. Nevertheless we will look out for these coming 2017, as we would love to see new device designs to appear on the market. Stay tuned to TechNave for more Samsung news.
