In a bold theft that’s rattling the tech world, a truck carrying 12,000 units of Samsung’s latest foldables—Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7—was stolen near London’s Heathrow Airport. The stolen shipment is estimated to be worth US$10.6 million (~RM49.7 million), making it one of the largest consumer electronics heists in recent UK history.

What Happened?

The truck was reportedly hijacked after being transferred from the airport to a warehouse. The haul included not just foldables, but also Galaxy Watch 8 series, Galaxy S25, and A16 models, according to follow-up reports.

Samsung is expected to blacklist and remotely lock the stolen devices, rendering them unusable and unsellable on the black market. The company is likely working with UK authorities to track down the missing cargo.

The theft could disrupt regional availability of the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, especially in the UK. Logistics and security protocols may face increased scrutiny as Samsung reassesses its distribution strategy.

Industry Insight

Large-scale tech thefts near Heathrow aren’t new. Experts warn that up to 75% of stolen devices are quickly exported, complicating recovery efforts. Samsung may also face insurance claims and tighter vendor oversight in the aftermath.

We guess it's a good thing that this didn't happen in Malaysia, otherwise the consumers wouldn't be happy to learn that their new devices have been stolen. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
