Foldable smartphones have come a long way and much of the advancements can be attributed to Samsung with its Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip lineups. Now, the South Korean tech giant is further putting trust on foldables, reportedly aiming to ship 20 million devices next year.

As reported by the South Korean publication The Elec, Samsung is aiming to achieve that number with the current Galaxy Z Fip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 devices, as well as next year’s Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold7. For comparison, Samsung’s target for this year was 16 million foldables shipments.

However, currently, Samsung is not expected to achieve the target, but falling short to only 10 million shipments. This can be attributed to more competition in the space, particularly from Chinese manufacturers such as HUAWEI, HONOR and OPPO.

Nevertheless, Samsung seems confident it can achieve the target next year, with rumours of a design refresh for the Galaxy Fold lineup to have a more ‘normal’ outer screen. Well, time will tell and for the latest developments on this, do stay tuned to TechNave for more trending tech news.
