Samsung is reportedly in the midst of developing 4 new high-end camera sensors, one of which has a whopping 440-megapixel count. This is according to information from reliable tech insider Revegnus.
Taking to Twitter, Revegnus revealed that the 4 sensors include the 50MP GN6, 200MP HP7, an unidentified 320MP sensor and a 440MP HU1. The tipster further asserted that not all of these sensors would end up on a Galaxy S device or a smartphone at all, as they may be used in other industries too.
This may be the case for the 440MP HU1 sensor, as it is touted to be used in the automotive or industrial sectors. With that being said, the other 3 may make their way to a smartphone camera.
Specifically, the 50MP GN6 and 200MP HP7 cameras which have a 1-inch sensor may well be used in a smartphone in the near future. Of course, do take this with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet.
