While Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 seems set to dominate flagship models for 2020, Samsung is looking towards MediaTek for its more affordable phones. MediaTek recently launched its new 5G-capable chipsets, which will probably feature in upcoming devices from Chinese manufacturers and now sources claim that Samsung may be looking into it.

According to GSMArena, Samsung is in negotiations with MediaTek to procure lower-end 5G chipsets for smartphones in its Galaxy A and M series. This would mean that the mainstream Samsung Galaxy smartphones will also feature 5G next year. MediaTek chipsets are usually more affordable so it'll be great to see if this makes upcoming devices like the A11, A31 and A41 cheaper. However, nothing has been confirmed by Samsung officially so let's wait and see.
