Shopping for a new phone? In that case, you might want to nail down your choice before the end of the year. It's reported that Samsung could increase the prices of upcoming smartphones due to rising production costs.
Culprit = Higher RAM costs?
According to Korea Economic Daily (in Korean), the rising costs of memory semiconductors could drive up the prices of PCs and smartphones. It's believed the main reason for the increase is the AI (artificial intelligence) industry. Moreover, prices could rise further as demand for AI-powered devices increases.
Affects Galaxy A and Galaxy M series
The source also claims that smartphone manufacturers, not just Samsung, have adjusted prices for upcoming devices. For instance, Xiaomi's Redmi K90 Pro Max is notably pricier than last year's K80 Ultra. As for Samsung, the company could increase prices of its entry-level Galaxy M series and mid-range Galaxy A series smartphones. That's bad news for shoppers with lower budgets.
Of course, we won't know how much prices will increase until next year's Galaxy A and Galaxy M series phones launch. Fortunately, the next big Samsung launch is the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026, so there may be an announcement then. In the meantime, stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
