It seems like everyone is trying to fold whatever technology products they have nowadays. Foldable smartphone is becoming a trend that many phone manufacturers are after. With Samsung leading the foldable industry this year with the Samsung Galaxy Fold, more foldable smartphones are coming into the market gradually as well. However, Samsung will not stop at folding only smartphones. There is a source claiming that they want to fold tablets too.

That rumour is according to a design patent Samsung Electronics filed with The Hague International Design System in May this year. The applications include about 35 images showing three different tablet variants. There are images of the color rendering of the tablet appeared online as well in both closed and open state that based on the patent details.

However, the patent application used a title that refers to ‘mobile telephone’. What you can see from the images could be a tablet-sized foldable phone when it is confirmed, but I doubt that anyone would use the size of that display as a phone though. The render also shows that it is folded inwards along the horizontal axis. There is no display when the device is folded.

The other interesting thing is we are not seeing cameras on any of the corner of the device. It could be Samsung is testing on an under-the-screen camera sensor, the technology which could be coming to their smartphones in 2020. If this prediction is true, we might not be seeing different kinds of notches and punch holes on the beautiful screens anymore in the future.

It is not sure if a foldable tablet from Samsung will be landing in the market, but we have rumours saying that the company will be rolling out another two foldable smartphones next year.
