We may soon see more foldable phone technology implemented in future smartphones, if these patents from Samsung are any indication. They have patents for just about any and every form imaginable, and we may see one (or more!) of them in the next 12 months.

The new patents from Samsung fleshed out a bit more on how a foldable mobile device might get unlocked, as well as ways to make the screen edges more useful - like deactivating touch there when a phone is open, and firing up actions for, say, a music player, when closed, depending on which side the phone lies.

Another interesting concept is the floating screen concept – which is akin to the always-on display we have right now. Basically, you just open the screen a bit to check your notifications and information that needed to be addressed by you. Stay tuned to TechNave as we gather more information on Samsung’s venture into the world of foldable screens.
