Samsung reportedly boosting up the Galaxy S24 Ultra cameras with AI

2023 is going to end in a few more days but in January 2024, we can expect a brand new flagship by Samsung. There are a couple of Galaxy S24 series tech specs rumours, but new reports have surfaced that the Galaxy S24 Ultra may be one of the best camera-centric phones.

According to rumours, the Galaxy S24 Ultra's rear camera setup could be packed with AI capabilities. For starters, the Night Mode is said to be improved with a new 200MP mode with AI. In Ice Universe's tweet, the new Night Mode can recognize 12 different kinds of objects in the dark and optimise the images.

Photos taken in low-light environments often have noises, so this is quite exciting. However, there are also reports that Samsung is only planning to boost the Galaxy S24 Ultra, while the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ may not get much upgrade. In fact, Revegnus tweeted that these two phones (and perhaps the Galaxy S25 and 25+) would retain the same primary camera sensor from the predecessors.

For context, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ are using a 50MP ISOCELL GN3 sensor with a 1/1.56-inch optical format with 1.0µm pre-binned pixels. We think the current Samsung flagship cameras are pretty good, but to hear that the cameras are to be recycled for the next-gen is a bit of a letdown, just like what Apple is doing. Speaking of which, the Galaxy S24 Ultra could be the only flagship in the lineup to use the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

2024 is just around the corner so by then, Samsung will probably announce the official Galaxy Unpacked date. Until then, sit tight and wait for the official news.
