While we anticipatedly wait for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 reveal tonight, Samsung Electronics has just announced that its Bixby is now available globally in more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, South Africa, and yes, Malaysia. It's about time!
Of course, Bixby will still only understand English and Korean. We expect that it will probably have a hard time understanding your Malaysian accent, dialects and expressions just like Siri. However, it's said that Bixy will "continuously improve its ability to interpret regional dialects, but since Bixby learns more frequently used command terms more quickly, it will take more time for Bixby to fully understand regional dialects that are used less frequently."
On top of that, Galaxy S8 and S8+ users should be able to personalize and be more productive with Bixby more than ever via Quick Commands, which allows you to make your own customized voice command. For example, you can say "good night" as a shortcut for "Turn on Do-not-disturb mode, set an alarm for 6:00 AM and turn on blue light filter". It is also able to understand cross-app commands like "send the picture just taken to Mom," and so on.
Samsung will continue to expand and improve Bixby's voice capabilities to additional countries, languages, devices, features and third-party applications. And just in case you forgot how to activate it, simply just press the dedicated Bixby button or say "Hi, Bixby."
